Dress Code for Iceland
Be prepared!
Iceland definitely isn´t another average holiday destination. Therefor you will need to pack layers of clothes and then hope for the best of weather during your visit to this beautiful island. We have made a list and this site to help you out. But first about the weather…
The Weather in Iceland can be different from one part of the island to another, but why and what to expect? First of all we have to understand that the island is located near the Arctic Circle. It is far north in the Atlantic ocean. But even so the weather is much milder in Iceland then you could expect from its location. Warm currents from south part of the Atlantic (The Gulf Stream) bring up warm ocean that surround the Island and keep it “warm”. Average temperature in Iceland during winter is around 0°C (32 F). However that is near the coastline where most people live, up in the mountains it can both be colder and more wind. Temperature during summer is higher it can be as warm as 25°c (77 F) but usually it is between 10 – 15°C (50 – 59 F). Remember though that in Iceland the weather is often unpredictable. There is a saying in Iceland that the weather changes every 5 minutes…..
